About
Jewelia writes, produces and performs a mixture of nostalgia-infused indie pop and piano-powered fairy-tales.
Her eclectic style takes influences from the music of piano-driven songstresses like Kate Bush and Tori Amos, and more modern pop artists such as Lana del Rey, MARINA or Billie Eilish. Her music stays within the realms of pop, while exploring different facets of it with different releases.
Jewelia’s music has received support from BBC Upload, with seven songs and an interview played on the show by Leo Ulph, and by Abbie Mac on BBC Introducing in Kent. Her music was also played on BBC Nottingham, BBC Introducing Three Counties, Eagle Radio, Amazing Radio and Cambridge 105, among others. Her debut album 'City of My Mind' was in top three albums of the year on Cam FM Breakthrough in 2019.
Jewelia’s song ‘Aquarium’ received national radio airplay on National FM and Europa FM in Romania after it was chosen as the official soundtrack of the award-winning mini-series, ’13 Shades of Romanian’, which aired on Romanian television and was screened at prestigious film festivals in London, Rome and Los Angeles.
To date, Jewelia has successfully crowdfunded two records: ‘This Love Song is Better Left Unsung’ EP in 2019, and her debut album, ‘City of my Mind’ which raised over $5000 on Kickstarter in 2018. Throughout 2020, she wrote, recorded and shared with her fans a song on the 20th of each month as part of #Project2020.
Jewelia has been growing a strong online presence and has over one million total YouTube views on her channel, and consistently reaches over 10 000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Her songs have been placed in official playlists such as New Music Friday UK and New Music Friday Romania, Chill Pop Hits and Autumn Chill on Spotify, Rising Pop on Tidal and New in Alternative on Apple Music.
Jewelia is based in London, but originally hails from Bucharest, Romania.
